Three months already! While times flies by so fast, we continue to try to cherish each moment. Just last night I heard little man was awake around 4am and he was struggling to get back to sleep. So I crawled out of bed to nurse him for a bit. Sitting there holding him in the dark reminded me of when he was a newborn that ate every three hours or so. I realized in that moment just how much he has grown over the passing months, as his legs dangled over my embrace and he felt much heavier in my arms. In the same moment I wished time could stand still for just little while.

Three month close up:
Three month stats:
Weight: Unknown (due to our unreliable home scale)
Height: 25 inches (estimated with a sewing measuring tape)
New skills:
-Talking, and when he’s in the mood you can have a full conversation.
-Sucking on his fist. Without any teeth he can just about get the whole thing in.
-Grabbing onto things. From toys to fingers to mommy’s hair.
-Rolling over. Back to front to back. Once he even rolled off the mat and got upset he was on the hardwoods since it is much hard to roll once he lands there.
Big Events:
-First Halloween. No trick-or-treating, but we did hand out candy with our friends.
-Surviving 5 days with just mommy while daddy was out of town for work. Since daddy is normally the one to transition him into the crib and play with him while mommy showers it was a big deal. Don’t worry though mommy was able to figure out showering and bedtime.
“A Day in my Life”
5:00am: I stir a bit as I hear mommy’s alarm go off in the other room. She’s up early to make two bottles for me before she heads off to work. I get to sleep in, so I usually fall right back to sleep.
6:30am: I hear mommy again as she heads out the door to work. She doesn’t know it, but I saw her peak her head in to say she loves me. I re-adjust myself and go back to sleep.
8:00am: Daddy is awake now, as I hear him starting up the shower. He gets ready first then he’ll come get me up. If I haven’t managed to squirm myself up to the top of the crib, I make sure I do it while he showers.
8:30am: I’m up! Daddy changes me and dresses me. Usually mommy tries to leave out an outfit, but sometimes dad and I figure it out on our own. I have lots of clothes, so it isn’t too bad. After I’m dressed, I get a bottle of warm milk and time with my dad.
9:00am: I have just arrived at daycare. The teachers are so excited to see me, and I usually flash them a smile. Dad passes me off and fills the fridge with my bottles before he heads out.
9:00am to 4:00pm: I hang out with my new friends. My activities include watching the others sing, listening at story time, and standing up when one of the teachers will hold me. I get two bottles while I’m there, and I take naps either in a crib or in a swing. I love to be constantly moving so I prefer the swing or the bouncy seat. Keeping the teachers on their toes!
4:00pm: Mommy is here!!! I can tell by the smile on her face that she is excited to see me. She checks my notebook to see when I ate and to see what I cooked up in my diaper that day. It’s odd to think she wants to know about my diaper, but I guess it’s a mommy thing. Then she scoops me up to give me cuddles before putting me in my carseat so that we can head home.
4:15pm: I typically fall asleep in the few minutes it takes to get home, so I chill in the carseat while mom cleans all my bottles and fills them with milk that she got while she was at work. When I have had enough of the carseat I let her know, and she will usually feed me again.
5:15pm: Daddy is home! I hear him come in the door, but when he comes to see me I usually am too distracted by something else- mostly the TV! I like to watch the news, wedding shows, or crime shows with mama.
6:00pm: Most nights mom and dad try to do something they call working out, it looks a bit crazy to me with them jumping, twisting, and dipping- but they play with me while they do it, so I’ll indulge them. I’d prefer to go for a walk with them instead, but mom says it is too cold out for me.
7:00pm: Dinner time! We all gather on the couch for dinner, even though we do have a table I guess it is just easier for now. Mom has mastered feeding me while eating her own dinner -it’s quite the multi-tasking trick, but it works for us. She tells me though that once it is time for real food that I will get to sit at the table.
8:00pm: It’s time for my bath! I really enjoy being ‘nekkid’ and the warm water. Mom will soap me up while singing crazy songs she makes up, then she’ll pass me off to daddy who has a towel ready to go. He dries me, lotions me up, then gets me in my pajamas. Mom takes her own shower during this time so she doesn’t have to worry about waking me up early in the morning when she leaves before the sun rises.
9:00pm: Mom says it is time to eat again before bed. Usually dad will start the feeding session by giving me a bottle of warm milk, then I get passed off to mom who will nurse me in bed while I fall into a deep sleep. All the milk helps me as a grow into a big, strong boy- and it helps me sleep for longer.
10:00pm: Snoozing in my crib, usually. I don’t always make the transition quickly, so daddy will usually come in. He pats my back and assures me that it is okay, and before I realize it I’m fast asleep. More often than not, I sleep through the night with no issues- but about once a week I let mom or dad know I need an extra bit of comforting by crying.
