(Yes, he is actually 10 months now, but I’m trying to catch up and I wrote this way back when I just haven’t had a chance to sit-down and add the pictures. So to avoid further delay here it is!)
Cameron has reached the 8 month mark with lots of fun and excitement, despite the cool weather in Buffalo. Getting from winter into spring isn’t always easy, but it will be warm soon enough and we’ll get outside for fun.
We have no stats on Cameron’s weight or height for this month because we didn’t have any doctor’s appointments, but we think he’s measuring similar. He continues to have a healthy appetite including enjoying a larger array of food that I make at home for him.
Our introductory foods include: sweet potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, sweet peas, applesauce, pears, cauliflower, and avocado. All foods are currently pureed and then frozen in either cupcake (veggies) or ice cube (fruits) sized portions. He also receives so fresh foods and tastes off our plates as we decide it’s appropriate- and he’s usually always interested.
New Skills:
-Crawling now a definite skill. He can move forward and back. He changes direction by sitting down, turning, and then going into a crawl again.
-Loves knocking down the stacked block, which mommy or daddy dutifully rebuild so he can knock them down again when he notices it standing again.
-Pulling up to standing position on furniture and reaching for items. His favorite so far is our ever growing collection of magazines on the ottoman. He flips through, crumples, and enjoys them. I’m sure to give him any catalogs when they come in the mail because then I don’t have to worry about what happens to them.
Big Events:
-“Six month” photo shoot with our photographer, Becca Sutherland. It was slightly delayed due to waiting for him to be fully sitting up and also due to schedule availability. He was a star and loved the camera. He even handled the wardrobe changes along with way. Check out the blog she did.
-First plane trip to South Carolina to see Grandma & Grandpa Fillmore and Uncle Jay. He did awesome on the plane (thankfully) and we had a great time. See the posts for Week 34 & 35 for details.
-First swimming pool experience, including a lazy river with tons of splashing fun.
“A Day in my Life”- Tuesday, April 9th
Midnight: Fast asleep, and after traveling home yesterday and settling back into our routine I need sleep and so do mom and dad. I sleep through the night.
7:30am: I cry and daddy comes to get me. He’s still tired, so he gets my bottle that mom left heating on the counter and takes me back to bed so he can rest while I eat.
8:00am: Time for us to get ready for the day, so Daddy puts me in the crib with some toys while he gets ready.
8:25am: Dad is ready, so now it’s my turn. Mom didn’t leave anything specific out, so dad selects an outfit. And before I know it, I’m in my car seat.
8:30am: Dad pack food and bottles in my bag, then he loads me into the car. I’m excited to see my daycare girls, I bet they missed me!
8:45am: Miss Amanda is super excited to see me! I knew she would miss me, and she immediately stops what she is doing to come get me. Dad loads my food and bottles into the fridge and then he heads off to work. I barely notice as everyone says hi to me, and comments on how big I got.
8:45am to 4:00ish: I play, eat, and sleep like any normal day. I get lots of extra holding since I’ve been away for a week.
4:15 pm: I’m sleeping in my crib when mom arrives. I’m sure she talks to the ladies about our vacation, and then I begin to stir. She picks me up from mom crib, and holds me while still talking.
4:30pm: Mom and I are home, and she has to get groceries out of the car so she brings me in first. I’m wait patiently in my car seat, then once everything is out of the car she lets me crawl around while she puts it away.
5:00pm: I start getting tired, and I let mom know my doing my whining cry. She picks me up and head into the living room with me. We cuddle up on the couch and both end up falling asleep.
6:00pm: Mom is already awake, and I hear dad come home so I begin to stir a bit. Daddy wants to see me, so mom passes me off for some cuddle time.
6:30pm: Mom gets dinner started in the kitchen, while Dad and I play. Dad takes me upstairs while he changes and so mom doesn’t have to worry about me getting into trouble.
7:00pm: Dinner is ready, so we all eat together at the table. Tonight’s dinner includes sweet potatoes and applesauce for me. Mom adds a little cinnamon, which makes it quite tasty.
7:30pm: Mom and Dad clean up dinner and I play on the floor with my favorite toys- a whisk and a wooden spoon. Tonight we skip the shower, but they promise we’ll get a tub plug soon so I can have a bath to splash in at night.
8:30pm: After much playing, crawling, and pulling up I am quite tired. Mom heats a bottle for me in the kitchen, while Dad takes me upstairs for a clean diaper and pajamas.
8:35pm: Warm bottle- check. Comfy spot in dad’s arms- check. Happy baby- check.
8:50pm: I finish my bottle then cuddle with Dad as he pats my bum. Within minutes I’m fast asleep on his chest. He moves me up to my crib without me even knowing it. I have sweet dreams through the night, and even move about a bit though I never wake fully until morning comes.
