Five months….

This five month update is VERY overdue (because he is actually 6 months now). But what can I say we’re busy here staring at our beautiful little boy! Seriously…it gets hard to pull ourselves away.

We leave the house a bit messier, do required tasks a bit quicker, and let the rest just happen as needed. Have you seen the sign that says, “Excuse the mess, the children are making memories”? Well in our case ‘children’ also includes Matt and me since we don’t want to miss out on the fun!

5 Month Stats (as of 1.10.13):

Weight: I think we’re closing in on 20 pounds!!! We don’t know for sure because he didn’t get measured at the doctor, but next month we’ll find out.

Height: Again, no clue but he is able to touch the floor better while in his ‘office’ and a few of his pants are now more like capris.

New Skills:
– Intentional grabbing and reaching for items. Especially anything that makes noise.

– High pitched screeches have turned to babbling. Sometimes you can even make out ‘dada’.

Big Events:
– First Christmas Celebration at home with Mom and Dad.
– Baptized in the Catholic Church with a fun family celebration after.
– First New Years ball drop and party. Awake to see it all.

“A Day in my Life”- A day with mom.

5:00am: I think mom’s up again making milk, but I’m tired so I keep sleeping so she can do her thing and then get started on her work for the day.

7:30am: Mom has been typing away on her computer long enough, so I let her know I’m ready to get up by starting to chat in my crib.

7:45am: She gets me up, gives me a clean diaper, a new outfit, and tells me I’m five months old today!

8:00am: Time to eat! Mom works on her computer while I eat- she’s always types and clicks away- maybe someday I can do that too.

8:30am: Done eating- so mom let’s me play in my new area of the house. It’sa nice little area that I can roll, squirm , and play. I’ve been working on sitting up by myself too, but I like pillows around me right now.

9:00am: I roll out of my seated position and scare myself so mom comes to the rescue. She calms me down, then moves me to my crib so I can get a morning nap.

9:10am: After fussing for a bit, I finally give up and fall asleep- I think mom is happy.

10:00am: I’m wake from my nap, and I practice pushups in my crib while I wait for mom to come up and get me.

10:15am: I’m up, in a new diaper, and enjoying a mid-morning snack while mom types on the computer again.

10:45am: I’m done eating so mom moves me to my ‘office’. Her work doesn’t look quite as fun as mine does. She only has a black box to type on and green folders with papers inside. I have toys that are many different colors and make fun sounds!Noon:

11:30am: I don’t really want to be in my office anymore, so I let mom know and she moves me to the playmat to play with my music machine. She also sings songs to me while she works, and I give her smiles.

12:00pm: Mom takes a lunch break and I sit with her, then after she puts me in the baby bjorn and I go to sleep while she gets back to work.

1:30pm: Wake again and ready for more milk! I eat, she works.

2:00pm: Playing again in my office. I love to jump up and down in it…mommy sings to me while I play.

3:00pm: Mom let’s me sit with her while she finishes her work….I like the little blinking light on her computer.

3:30pm: She’s done!!! We play on the floor for a bit, then she puts me in the bjorn for a quick nap while she does thinks in the kitchen. I’m growing really attached to her…literally.

5:00pm: I get some more milk while we wait for daddy to get home from work…I’m always so excited to see him.

5:30pm: I play with dad while Mom makes dinner. It smells good, but I don’t think I’m ready yet for the while eating thing…drinking a bottle is too easy.

7:00pm: Dinner is served! So I play on my belly with my toys, or mom props me up so I can practice sitting.

8:00pm: Time for shower and pajamas, then dad gives me my last bottle to the night.

8:30pm: Off to sleep without too much fuss, most days I’m so tired I try to fight it but I don’t last long.

See you next month! (Or hopefully very soon since this is late.)
