9 months…

Cameron has reached the 9 month mark, and speeding toward a year very quickly. When we look at him each day it is hard to believe just how far he has come in 9 months, especially when comparing to the newborn our friends just had. Remembering those first sleepless nights and the complete infatuation we felt as we learned about life with our little one.

I remember when Cam did not ‘bend’ at the waist, his legs were always curled up like he was still in the womb, and he could only get around if we carried him. Now it is a world of difference- he bends at the waist, he stretches out, only cuddles when he’s sleepy, and can crawl everywhere. He’s even learning how to crawl over small obstacles (like my legs or other toys) to get to what he wants.

Cameron’s stats (as of 5.17.2013):
Weight: 20 lbs 8oz (up 1 lb 4oz from March)
Height: 28 inches (up only .5 inches, but measuring a baby isn’t an exact science)

Both of his measurements put him in the 50th percentile, following the ‘expected’ rate of growth perfectly.

New foods added to those listed last month include organic ground lamb, ground beef, and kale. I mix up various combinations from my freezer stash of portion size foods to create his meals, and the daycare girls are often jealous of his meals because they smell so good.

New Skills:
-Crawling really progressed last month, but this month he has been working on his speed. I can now put the bottle on the floor at meal time, and he’ll crawl to it with pure determination. Sometime we set a small obstacle for him to go over or around.
-Pulling up on furniture has now turned into popping right up, as along as there is something nearby to hold onto. Be it the table leg, the ottoman, the side table, a cabinet, your leg….literally anything that make him more stable.
-Eating more solid foods and experimenting with things mommy is preparing for dinner, like raw red pepper slices. He really enjoyed it, but the white shirt didn’t fare so well.

Big Events:
-Saw his first home construction project underway with our back porch. Matt striped it down with Cameron overseeing the project from inside, with only a few moments that scared Cameron. (Don’t worry I consoled him, and assured him daddy was okay.)
-Helped mom and dad select a ‘new’ car. He was very good on the trip to the dealer, which was over an hour away, and hung in really well during the test drive and negotiations. We just made sure to keep him fed and content. He approved of the purchase!
-Enjoying walks outside in the beautiful weather, including exploring the grass and taking in new textures.

“A Day in my Life”- Thursday, May 9th

Midnight: Shhh….I’m sleeping.

3:30am: I cry and daddy comes to the rescue! Now this is what I call service, but in all seriousness I go back to sleep after my diaper is changed. Dad’s a good sport about it, and goes back to sleep himself.

7:30am: The sun is shining and the birds are chirping, so it must be time to get daddy up. I play with the camera attached to my crib and then chat away until he comes to get me. He has a fresh bottle in hand, puts me in his bed, and I eat while he gets ready for the day.

8:00am: Time for me to get ready! Daddy puts me in an outfit that mom put out the night before…the shirt says “Little Fry” on the front and on my booty it says “Shake Shack”. Ha! The daycare ladies are going to love it because seriously everyday is a fashion show for me.

8:15am: Dad loads me into my car seat, then we head to the kitchen to pack our food. Dad packed one bag for him and one bag for me- I’m excited to see what mom has packed for my food.

8:30am: Loaded up into the car and off to daycare…it’s just two blocks away so we are there quickly. Miss Amanda is excited to see me (I’m her favorite!). Dad loads my food and bottles into the fridge and then he heads off to work. I’m busy getting attention from the ladies for my outfit…

8:40am to 4:00ish: I play, eat, and sleep. There are lots of babies here, but I can’t count so don’t ask me how many exactly. The littlest ones just hang out in a someone’s arms, a crib, swing or chair while the bigger kids like me adventure around the room playing with toys and getting into as much as possible. Some of my friends are loud, but some are quiet like me.

4:00pm: I’m playing on the floor with a toy when I hear a familiar voice, and look up to see mommy come in the door. With a big smile on my face I crawl over to her, and she gives me a great big hug! She then packs up all my dirty dishes and bottles while talking to the teachers. They are sad to see me go, but are happy they will get to see me one extra time this week for a Mother’s Day Tea Party on Friday! (Don’t tell mommy, but they helped me make something for her.)

4:15pm: Mom and I are home, and she has to get groceries out of the car so she brings me in first. I’m just sitting in my car seat waiting, and before I know it I fell asleep.

5:00pm: I wake up in the car seat to see that the groceries are put away and I’m all alone in the kitchen. With a quick squeak from me, mom comes to get me. She cuddles me on the couch while we wait for dad to come home. She feeds me my bottle that I didn’t end up eating at daycare, which will hold me over until dinner.

5:30pm: Dad’s home and we have to run some errands, so I’m back in the car seat and headed out the door. I’m tired still so I snooze while everything is taken care of.

6:00pm: We drop mom off at her car, which was getting a repair and then we all head home for dinner. Dad starts the chicken while mom prepares a salad. Tonight I enjoy an avocado that has been blended up smooth.

6:30pm: Dinner is ready, so we all eat together at the table. I make sure to get some chicken from Mom and Dad- they give in so easily.

7:00pm: Upon finishing dinner, we get a call from Florida on Skype. It’s the Langton crew calling to see me. I show them some of my tricks like standing, crawling, and a little climbing.

7:30pm: We’ve been on the phone for a while so mom starts a bath for me, so I can show them how much fun I have playing in the water. They get a kick out of my splashing around.

8:00pm: We’re off of Skype and my bath is done. Dad gets me dressed and ready for bed. I don’t always enjoy this process so I squirm about for dad making it slightly difficult. I hear mom getting my bottle ready.

8:10pm: Downstairs in dad’s arms enjoying a nice warm bottle of mama milk, meanwhile I hear mommy making more and the sound of the machine starts to loll me to sleep.

8:30pm: Bottle done, drowsy, and cuddled up on dad’s chest. After few minutes, including lots of kiss and sweet words, Dad takes me up to my crib and I fall fast asleep for the night.
